Limit Texas Holdem Poker:

As you may know by now, Texas Holdem Poker is the world’s most popular version of the world’s favorite game, poker. It is a poker game where players must make the best 5 card poker hand from a total of 7 different cards, 2 which are unique to each player, called “hole” cards and up to 5 cards that are known as “community” cards (common to every player). There are two types of holdem poker, one being Limit Holdem (the other No Limit). In Limit Texas Holdem poker, each individual game has betting boundaries. A minimum bet is set and a maximum bet is set. So if you come across a table that advertises that it is a $2 – $4 (sometimes it will read 2/4 or 2-4) Limit game, for example, the first number (the 2) refers to the amount of the big blind and the amount that all bets must be equal to in the first two rounds of betting. The second number (the 4 in this case) represents the maximum bet or the amount that must be bet in the last two rounds of betting. This is an example of a low –limit game. It is common to find low limit games at online casino and some games have limits as low as 50 cents to 1 dollar. For more confident players or players with larger bankrolls, high limit games are also available, these can be found on the form of 10/20 games up to 50/100 and in some cases even higher.

  • Limit versions of this type of poker game are commonly found online, with limits ranging from low limits to high limits.
  • A wide range is available in order to suit every player’s desire and bankroll.
  • If you see a game advertised as 2/4 or 3 – 6 or $10 - $20, for example, this means that the holdem game is a limit game where the first number is the minimum bet (placed in betting round 1 and 2) and the second is the max bet allowed (to be bet in round 3 and 4).
  • The small blind amount in limit games is typically ½ of the minimum bet and the big blind is usually set to be equal to the minimum bet.
  • Different poker rooms/games may have slightly different policies so your best chance at being successful is to understand the rules/policies completely before you begin to play.
