Jennifer Harman - Biography

When it comes to poker, the majority of players happen to be men, but in recent years, it’s the women of poker who have been finding themselves in the spotlight and no one more than Nevada’s own, Jennifer Harman. Born and raised in Reno, Jennifer makes her living as a professional poker player.

Since Ms. Harman is only about 5 foot 2 inches in height and maybe weighs 100 pounds, she may not look too intimidating but her opponents have quickly realized that she is one to be aware of. She also believes that her being a woman gives her an advantage, for this same reason. No one is intimidated by her and that gives her the edge. And it is also obvious that Jennifer isn’t intimidated herself by the “big boys” of poker as you can often find her at the Bellagio, sitting around a poker table involved in a high stakes games with the likes of Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan and Lyle Berman.

All her experience and poker knowledge has treated Jennifer well, she has not only won one World Series of Poker tournaments, but she is the first woman ever to embrace two championship titles. But unfortunately for her, the WSOP bracelets aren’t exactly designed for women, so you won’t see her sporting either of the bracelets too often.

Many refer to Jennifer as a “true poker professional”, as her knowledge and expertise in every type of poker game makes her a very well-rounded player. She was even honored to write the chapter on Limit Hold’em Poker in the soon to be released sequel of the most coveted poker book ever, SuperSystems (the new book is titles SuperSystems 2).

When Jennifer is not playing poker, she likes to spend time with her new husband, Marco Traniello and friends and family. She is also quite the philanthropist and is currently in the process of getting together the “Jen Harman Challenge”, which will help raise awareness in the significance of being an organ donor. This cause is very important to her as she has recently had to undergo a kidney transplant herself (the donated kidney came from one of her nieces).
