Howard Lederer - Biography
As a teenager, Howard discovered he had a love and a talent for the game of chess, so instead of heading off straight to college, he decided to work on his chess career and move to New York City. This is where Howard found poker. At the infamous Mayfair club in NY City, Howard and others spent countless hours playing, learning and mastering Texas Holdem poker. In the early 90’s Lederer picked up and moved to Las Vegas where he could use these newly developed skills to earn his living. Today, Howard Lederer is definitely one to watch out for. Nicknamed “The Professor”, Lederer really has mastered every aspect of the game and is known to be relaxed and very even tempered at the table and in every day life. Howard also has the ability to clearly explain and make sense of very complicated aspects of the game; he does so very well in his video “Secrets of Holdem”. Howard currently holds a number of professional tournament titles, including two 1 st place finishes in World Poker Tour (WPT) tournaments, another two WSOP championship titles and at least three titles in the infamous Bellagio high stakes tournaments. And with the way Howard is playing, it is not going to end here; there are many more wins in store for Howard in the future. Howard and his wife Suzie are proud parents to seven year old Matthias. And some may be familiar with Howard’s also famous sister, Annie Duke. Howard taught Annie everything he knows of the game and matched with her own skills and desire, Annie has become one of the top women poker pro’s on the circuit today and is said to have accumulated more cash in poker tournaments than any other woman to date. In fact Annie has knocked her brother out of a number of tournaments and in 1994, Howard and Annie became the first brother and sister to make it to the same World Series of Poker final table. Howard is currently an active member of Team Full Tilt, where players can compete against this pro at his very own table at the online poker room. When Howard is not at the poker table, you may find him playing golf with friends, at the theatre or cinema with his wife or keeping himself in shape at his gym. |
