Daniel Negreanu - Biography

As one of the youngest players in the Poker Circuit these days, Daniel Negreanu plays with grace, precision and with such powerful skill, that it’s hard to believe that he is only 31 years old. He is a match with guys who have been studying the game for longer than Daniel has even been alive. Born in Toronto Canada, Daniel got turned on to the game of poker when he was just 15 years old. Only a few years later, Negreanu picked and moved to Las Vegas where he would pursue a career in playing poker full time.

A risky move for anyone to make but for Daniel it was the right decision. Knowing, almost his whole life, that he wanted to be a pro poker player, Daniels dream came true in 1998 when he won his first world championship poker event. The years to follow were a nothing short of a wonder for Mr. Negreanu as he won tournament after tournament. And in 2004, at the age of 30, Daniel was named Card Player Magazine Player of the Year, ESPN Player of the Year and 2004/2005 WPT (World Poker Tour) Year. And Daniel holds the current record for most accumulated money won in WPT events.

Daniel Negreanu is known for wearing his beloved hockey jerseys to a game and says that he loves a challenge when he gets to the table. At the table Daniel loves to socialize, always plays clean and is an all around fun loving and polite guy. When he’s not playing in a tournament, David is playing poker with close friends, writes the occasional column for Card Player Magazine but most importantly, can be seen speaking up for the game of poker (which he likes to refer to as a sport). Daniel is set on changing the poor image that poker had in the past and would like for people to see that this sport can be a healthy profession. Daniel is still single and living in Las Vegas (guess he loves being close to the action).
