7 Card Stud PokerAlthough not as popular as Texas Holdem, 7 Card Stud is a classic poker game and preferred by many poker professionals and fanatics. This game differs form Texas Holdem Poker as there are no community cards which are common to all players and there is no such thing as the big and small blinds. This game begins by every player placing an ante into the pot. In a limit game, where the limit is for example, $5-$10, the ante is typically 10% of the low limit, so 50 cents in this case. Next the dealer deals 2 cards face down to each player (pocket or hole cards) and one card face up (door card) to each player. Now the first betting round begins. The player with the lowest up card begins. If this player chooses to bet he/she must bet an amount equal to double the ante, in this case $1 and every consecutive player who wishes to raise the bet must bet equal to the low limit, $5 in our example. Once every player has made their move the dealer deals another up card to each player still in the game. The next betting round begins but this time it is the player with the highest hand shown who starts the betting; all bets are made at the low limit in this round ($5). Once over the dealer deals another up card and another betting round takes place except this time all bets and raises are made at the upper limit ($10). One more card is dealt “up” and the next betting round takes place as before (all bets at upper limit). Finally the last card is dealt only this time it s face down to each player and the final betting round takes place, again at the upper limit and at this point, like in Holdem Poker a showdown takes place with any players still in the game. The player with the best five card poker hand takes the pot. In this game, the five card hand can be made up of any combination of hole (pocket) cards and up (door) cards. To sum up:
